On the Star Wars set
I’ve met and interviewed Dave Prowse ( Darth Vader ) a bunch of times and he’s always someone you can drop an email to or have a cheeky pint with. Lovely chap with a wicked sense of humour. Green Cross Code tights aside, I will never forget seeing The Vader’s entrance in Star Wars at a cinema thats now a carpet store, on the Isle of Wight in 1977.

This was actually the first film that my Dad ever took me to see and like many of that generation, it left a lasting impression. Imagine my childish giggling and delight when I got to recreate such force related folly on the Star Wars set recently. Needs a bit of work on the lighting and some smoke, but boy was it fun.

One of my best mates from Bath, now living in OZ told me a story once that he had ‘touched’ the actual star destroyer that was used for the opening shots, whilst visiting Skywalker ranch on business. Now that could be considered the Holy Grail of model manipulation but I’ve got to be honest, poncing around where Vader once walked, that was good enough for me. May the Farce be with you.
