It is certainly an option and ultimately the business will come first. If you haven't already, read through all the applications a couple of times and get a good feel for them. The crucial expression is 'within the licensed area of Bath'. That I'm afraid doesn't have to be Bath at all. It therefore means that any of the operators can broadcast from Bristol, Swindon etc. If times get tough, networking will be the very first port of call without shadow of a doubt.

Hey Frank, thanks for dropping by. I don't think its to strong at all. In its heyday we were in the homes of 19,000 people on a regular basis. From the feedback I get people genuinely miss the local station and it made a difference. You have to bear in mind that a station as well as gleaning commercial revenue also played a massive part in the community and was essential for charities. Without those services people will be affected. It may not be immediately obvious as to how but they will. Of course from January 2009 after we all left that changed and by the end of the year Bath FM had lost 9,000 heads. With those numbers it would have been more cost effective to email the individuals MP3s!!

It is worth noting that according to the records and paperwork that I and my colleagues have, Bath FM never ever once got into profit. Now that's a sobering fact. You have made some very viable observations and I ask the same questions too. There were a reasons why we didn't move forward and that was one of them! The list is endless with regards pros, cons and the other viability variables suffice it to say you need a huge amount of money to make this work and sustainable. Or....You just network the whole lot.

'One of the biggest decisions to affect the city of Bath' - a bit strong I think. The introduction of the latest out-of-town jukebox with a few local ads is unlikely to set pulses racing. The best case scenario I can see for the newcomer is placing sixth in market share after, in no particular order, Radios1, 2, 4, Bristol and Heart. If Kiss 101 performs strongly in Bath, make that seventh. Furthermore, in a city where an evening paper with huge heritage had to go weekly, where is the revenue coming from to support an also-ran radio station?

Whoever takes over at least it couldn't really be considered to be a local service now we have to wait and see what format they'll adopt. If it's the Breeze I'll get my coat, too depressing a playlist. One positive thought nobody could have made a bigger mess of local radio than the current licence holder

I'm a big fan of local radio and I feel we are losing it!
I was upset to hear that Bath fm, 3TR and Brunel fm were to be closed for good.
I had pleasure to visit Brunel on
Many occasions.

Its sad to hear that such a sucessful station for bath was brought down by people with no respect for local radio, and also to hear of people losing their homes.

I once tried to get some promo clothing for all 3 stations but got snubbed by all the owners so for me it's just the stories I read about these bloody brilliant stations.

What a travesty! I hated to hear the empty hiss of the missing station on my radio.... none of the other local(ish) stations match up! I loved to hear the local news and whats on in Bath and the fact that the friendly and approachable presenters, were part of the community. I always got an immediate response by email to our requests for advertising an event for our Club's activity and the announcement was never missed or forgotten (not something I can say for other stations I have contacted!) What other station has the same level of listener interaction, as you guys achieved?

I for one, will really miss BathFM... you really made a difference....
